GET TOGETHER- Everything Means Everything

GET TOGETHER-     Everything Means Everything

 Php 4:6,7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

At one point in my life I was a big time worrier. Until 1990 I bit finger nails all through childhood, adolescence, high school, and way into adult hood. When I met Jesus Christ in 1990 and gave my life to Him this verse became very foundational in my life. I also stopped biting my finger nails. He had removed worry from my life.

One thing that I have noticed in my journey with the Lord is that there are always new and greater challenges as we progress in our relationships with Him. When this happens I believe that we are being challenged to trust God on a deeper level. We can either decide to move forward with God, or perhaps pick back up some of our old, habits, coping mechanisms, or other behaviors where we try to put ourselves on the throne rather than trusting God.The good news about these two verses is the man that wrote it was a powerful man of God. The Holy Spirit had him write this verse to help all of us no matter where that we might be in our journey with the Lord.

In this passage we are told not to worry about anything. This is consistent with what Jesus preached and taught. Seven times in the Gospels He is telling us not to worry.  He also promises peace to those who do this. Joh 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  The Greek term here for peace is eirene,  i-ray’-nay. It means a state of freedom from worry and inner turmoil.

Paul gives us good advice on how to experience this peace. He says that with thanksgiving that we can talk to God about everything.    The Greek term for prayer is pros-yoo-khay’. It means to speak or make requests to God.

Today you may be being tempted. Take that to God in prayer. You also may be going through a time of adjustment in some way in your life. Take that to God in prayer.  Theer is no situation or circumstance that we cannot talk to God about.  There is nothing that can take the place of that! Can I be honest with you? In the days before I met Christ I tried valium, painkillers, marijuana and all kinds of other harmful ways to give me peace. But the best prescription that I have found was written by and paid for by Dr. Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7 is one of the best ones that He has ever given to me. I believed that it worked early in my journey. I believe that it will still work at this phase of the journey.  Try it in your journey with the Lord. If you already are then don’t let up!

Let Us Pray

Lord Jesus we thank You that You paid the price for our peace. We thank you today for the Holy Spirit that quickens Your word. We thank You that You are willing to act upon every supplication that we bring before you. We praise You that you grant us peace.

In Jesus Name

Amen

Don’t let the  little foxes rob you in your relationship with the Lord and with others. Love you all.

Your Friend/Kinfolk

Preston
